The statement is incorrect. However, it should be considered that this is a minor numerical deviation, which may be the result of a slip.

On the official Facebook page of the HDZ, a post was published on May 14 stating: “The President of the European Commission and the leading candidate of the EPP, Ursula von der Leyen, is thrilled with the spectacular rally at Split’s Gripe, but even more with Croatia’s achievements from 2016 to today, in the 2 terms of this Government: […] an increase in tourism revenue from 8.1 billion to 14.6 billion euros.”

The statement is INCORRECT.

According to the Croatian National Bank, as reported by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, tourism revenues from foreign guests in 2016 amounted to 8 billion and 635 million euros, while in 2023 tourism revenues amounted to 14.6 billion euros.

However, it should be taken into account that this is a minor numerical deviation, which may be the result of a slip.
