Mario Radić’s (DP) statement that the Krško Nuclear Power Plant covers around 30% of Croatia’s consumption is COMPLETELY UNTRUE.

The latest debate organized in collaboration with the Morning Paper and the Croatian Employers’ Association under the title “Energy, ICT, and Tourism” was aired on April 12th on the official YouTube channel of the Morning Paper. Representatives of five Croatian parties, Mario Radić (Homeland Movement), Bernard Gršić (HDZ), Marija Selak Raspudić (Bridge), Sandra Benčić (We Can!), and Sanja Radolović (SDP), discussed the key steps and processes necessary for the rapid development of the economy.

Morning Paper journalist Boris Orešić directed a question to the representative of the Domovinski pokret, Mario Radić, about his measures to make Croatia energy independent. During his speech, Mario Radić stated: “We must have fundamental electricity producers. The Krško Nuclear Power Plant covers around 30% of our annual consumption.” (Source: Morning Paper YouTube channel, 49:20 minutes)

We investigated the statement and found it to be COMPLETELY UNTRUE.

Official websites of HEP Supply and OIE Croatia refute the provided information. The Croatian Electric Power Industry takes over 50% of the annually produced electrical energy at the Krško Nuclear Power Plant, but the electricity produced by the Krško Nuclear Power Plant covers only 12% of the total annual consumption in the Republic of Croatia.
