Climate change is one of the “hot” topics of today, representing one of the greatest global challenges of the 21st century. Contradictory information and the increased spread of fake news and misinformation about such important topics as climate change can lead to confusion, social debates, and public division. Therefore, fact-checking and information verification become crucial tools for identifying and combating misinformation and fake news about climate change.
When reading various articles, especially on important topics such as climate change that significantly impact human life and habits, it is essential to thoroughly check the credibility of the article and the reliability of the sources. Given the increasing amount of information, data, news, and content, distinguishing true and verified information from misinformation, fake news, and other misleading content becomes challenging. Continuous education of the public on recognizing fake and manipulative content contributes to raising awareness about the existence of misinformation, conspiracy theories, and false information, as well as the ability to identify them. Furthermore, better public knowledge about climate change processes allows for a better understanding of climate change and articles on this topic from various scientists, as well as political decisions regarding climate. The fight against misinformation on such important social issues requires educating the wider public to ensure that truthful, accurate, and verified information prevails in the public and media space.
